Hybrid Poetics
experimenting with form
Been a bit off grid re: Substack this past week or so, and not writing much. I am, however, working on some poetry projects and connections for 2026. Recently I’ve been asked to create a creativity kit which will, of course, be writing or poetry themed to be given out in 2026 by the local art center. While playing with ideas for something new and succinct that could be done with only a few supplies and might be appropriate across age groups - whew! - and having read some Issa Haiku this morning and remembering the Mirror poem a friend recently posted, my mind morphed into a hybridized form that could be written and created as a sort of a flip book. Too much caffeine, right? Anyway, that is a lot of words to describe this experimental short poem.
Thanks to Kathleen Krueger for the example of a Mirror Poem and to ONLY POEMS DAILY for the Issa post.
Very soon I will be able to share poems that have been accepted to 2026 issues at Eclectica Magazine and Sandcutters.
P.S. My caffeine of choice is Dr. Pepper. Any other Pepper Poets out there?
